If you are coming from Amman there are regular bus services to Aqaba. It is convenient to ask to be dropped off at Rashidiyya Junction, the turn off to Wadi Rum. However, note that the buses operate by Jet will not allow passenger to get off the bus. You would have to go all the way to Aqaba and trace back to Wadi Rum from there (which is also no problem).
From the Rashidiyya Junction you can easily hitch a ride to Wadi Rum and locals are happy to take you along for a small fee.
Public buses shuttle daily between Aqaba and Wadi Rum. They leave Aqaba at 6:30 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, and return from Wadi Rum approximately one hour later (this is to be confirmed), these busses mainly shuttle school teachers between Wadi Rum and Aqaba and thus are bound to schooling times at the village.
As already suggested above you can also use transport to Rashdiyya or towards Quweira, which operate more frequently from Aqaba and be dropped off at the Rashdiyya Junction from where to catch a ride to Wadi Rum.
There is a public bus leaving from Petra (Wadi Musa) directly to Wadi Rum at 6 am daily. Additionally several busses leave for Aqaba and you can be dropped off at “the Junction” as already described. There is also a bus from Wadi Rum to Petra, which is scheduled for 8:30 am.
Please note that on Fridays public transport is operating very infrequently. |

Wadi Rum is situated in the southern part of Jordan. It can be reached easily by main roads from Amman (3.5hrs), Aqaba (40 minutes) and Petra (1.5hrs). Public transport options are available, although car-hire and bus tours can be arranged through hotels and travel agents. Convenient taxi services can be negotiated from Aqaba and Petra at reasonable prices. Aqaba has an airport and daily flights operate between Amman and Aqaba.
